Getting Started
After receiving a diagnosis and choosing your hospice provider, your journey will start with some paperwork and assessments. Our experienced care team will assess what level of hospice care is needed and will guide you through this process.
We understand that paperwork is probably the last thing on your mind, but it’s essential, and our team takes the time to guide you through this process. This is the time to share end-of-life wishes, concerns, and goals and ask all your questions. Of course, our team will always be ready to address concerns and questions throughout the entire hospice care experience!
The First Few Days
The first couple of days of hospice care will be the busiest. This is the time when the medication orders are put in, and the medical equipment arrives and is set up. You’ll likely be visited by multiple members of the care team as they introduce themselves and explain their role in patient care.
We understand that during this time, these changes can be quite overwhelming and sometimes scary for patients and their families. During this transition, we make sure that our patients are never alone and are comfortable as they start building a routine.
After the first couple of days, the hustle and bustle will settle down as caregivers, patients, and family members find themselves in a comfortable routine.
Routine Compassionate Care
With a predictable routine in place, patients will receive ongoing care that addresses their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Routine care can include:
- Pain management
- Symptom management
- Wound care
- Social support
- Emotional and spiritual therapy
- Dietary support
