A Family’s Heartfelt Review

A patient’s family member nominated Marilyn after experiencing her care firsthand, sharing:
“I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional care and support provided by Generations Health Care during my mother’s final months. The entire team, including the social worker, chaplain, and nurses, maintained weekly contact with me. I particularly appreciated their openness to feedback on how to improve my mom’s comfort, whether through adjusting her medical treatment or playing her favorite music. Beyond the comfort they provided to my mom, their support alleviated my worries and offered much-needed assistance, making me feel less alone in ensuring her final days were as peaceful as possible.
One nurse, Marilyn Hibser, truly went above and beyond. She has a delightful spirit, with blond hair and a southern accent, and often shared jokes with my mom since they had the same name. Marilyn consistently called and texted me, always encouraging me to reach out anytime. She was incredibly flexible, taking time in the evenings to share updates or hear my concerns, which was a blessing given my work travel and late hours. Marilyn was also the one who, as I requested, signaled my mom’s final days, calling and texting me late in the day. Her dedication to keeping me informed allowed my brother to arrive from Alaska just in time to hold my mom’s hand as she passed.
Marilyn personally checked on my mom during her last days. After my mother passed, I called Marilyn from her bedside, and she arrived within minutes to quietly confirm the time of death and initiate the next steps. She respectfully waited outside my mom’s room, offering to stay with my mom until Harrell Funeral Home arrived should I choose to leave.
As Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Words cannot fully express my gratitude for Marilyn and the entire Generations team. They made my mom and me feel deeply cared for, providing comfort during those difficult months and enabling my brother and me to be by her side during her final moments.”
